COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The next step in the process of Union City’s withdrawal from the Michigan South Central Power Agency is scheduled to take place during Wednesday’s Coldwater B.P.U. Board of Directors meeting.
The M.S.C.P.A. Board approved the agreements last October to allow the village to withdraw from the agency and assign their transmission rights and power supply contracts from the AMP Fremont Energy Center to the City of Coldwater and the City of Marshall.
The Coldwater B.P.U. Board and the Coldwater City Council approved a Withdrawal and Allocation Adjustment Agreement last November.
B.P.U. Director Paul Jakubczak says the next step in this process is to assign and assume the allocation of the Village of Union City’s interests under the AMP Power Sales Contract which will be divided between the cities of Coldwater and Marshall.
Coldwater’s share will equate to 716 kilowatts.
Jakubczak says this additional resource will be added to their current shares to bring their total ownership interest to 18,771 kilowatts.
Should the board approve the resolution and agreement, it will be forwarded to the City Council for final authorization.
