COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – When you hear that road weight restrictions are right around the corner in Branch County, it’s another sign besides next week’s warmer weather forecast, that Spring can’t be too far behind. The Branch County Road Commission announced today that maximum allowable axles loading on all County roads will be strictly enforced effective at 6 a.m. next Tuesday, March 10th.
With nine feet or over spacing between axles, the maximum load is 11,700 lbs while less than nine feet but more than 3 feet, six inches, it’s 8,450 lbs. The Road Commission says normal legal loads should be reduced by 35% on paved roads and 25% on concrete roads for all “Non Exempt”. Eligible exemption loads require one permit per power unit. Tickets will be issued for violators.
A list of “All Season Roads” is available from the road commission office.
