COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – March is here and that means this year, today, March 2nd is township personal property tax deadline day according to Ovid Township Treasurer Shelly AcMoody. She says today is the last day to pay those taxes for summer and winter 2014 at the Ovid Township Hall from 9 am to 5 pm.
AcMoody says if you don’t own property in Ovid but rather in another township, you should contact your own local treasurer for the time and place they’ll be available to accept your payment. She says by Michigan law, all treasurers must be available on the last tax day of the year. And again, this year, it’s today since February 28th fell on a weekend. If the taxes aren’t paid by the end of the business day today, the tax roll is turned over to the Branch County Treasurer’s office and you will need to pay at the courthouse and penalties and interest will be added beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3rd.
AcMoody says most townships have a website and you can check on-line for the Treasurer’s phone number and office hours.
