COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It was a strong showing by the Coldwater High School bowling teams in the MHSAA Division Two Regionals which wrapped up on Saturday with the singles competition at Continental Lanes in Kalamazoo where Coldwater senior Patricia Neely won the girls singles title. Also qualifying for the state finals with her top ten finish was sophomore Cassidy Wolff.
Making the finals from the boys side were sophomore Tyler Newman who took fifth place and senior Buddy Bailey, who was tenth. Both Coldwater teams on Friday also qualified for the finals with the boys winning the Regional title while the Lady Cardinals finished second. The Division Two State Finals are Friday and Saturday at Century Lanes in Waterford.
In girls basketball, post season play begins tonight with MHSAA District tournament action including Coldwater against Vicksburg at the Vicksburg Class B District. It’s a 6 pm tip off Our live coverage begins around 5:30 pm following the Evening Journal. The winner advances to face off against Three Rivers in Wednesday’s District semi-finals.
Bronson, Quincy, and Union City are competing in the Reading Class C District. Tonight in first round play at 6 pm, it’s Bronson at Jonesville, Hillsdale at Quincy, and Homer at Reading. In the semi-finals, Union City will take on the Hillsdale-Quincy winner while the survivors of the other pair of first round games will matchup as well on Wednesday.
In the Bellevue Class D District, Tekonsha has a first round game tonight against Bellevue. The boys basketball second season starts a week from tonight with Coldwater hosting a Class B District Tournament.
The 42nd Annual Al Clyne Coldwater Noon Exchange Club Freshman Boys Basketball Tournament begins tonight at Legg Middle School with two games in the event that continues through Saturday. The host Coldwater Cardinals will play Kalamazoo Loy Norrix in this evening’s second game set for 7:15 pm. It’s Jonesville vs. Jackson Lumen Christi in the opener at 5:30.
