JAMESTOWN TOWNSHIP, IN (WTVB) – A fire on Old 27 just south of the Michigan-Indiana state line early Thursday morning destroyed the interior of the Red Arrow Restaurant.
The Fremont, Indiana Fire Department was dispatched at 5:44 a.m..
They received assistance from Angola and Orland firefighters as well as from the Lakeland Fire Department from Branch County.
Steuben County EMS, Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, and the State of Indiana Fire Marshal’s Office were also at the scene.
The fire was called under control at 6:19 a.m. and the last crews cleared the scene at 10:46 a.m..
No injuries were reported.
Fremont Fire Chief Eric Hufnagle told the Herald Republican that an employee reported the fire after seeing smoke and that it’s believed to have started in the attic.
Hufnagle also told the Herald Republican the fire is not considered to be suspicious.
The strip mall that houses the Red Arrow, State Line Tobacco and Bubba’s Pizza survived the fire.
The two businesses next to the restaurant sustained what was described as minimal damage.
Bubba’s Pizza plans to reopen next Wednesday after a professional cleaning crew finishes their work.
