JAMESTOWN TOWNSHIP, IN (WTVB) – An Orland, Indiana man was killed on Tuesday afternoon in a crash involving the victim’s motorcycle and a S.U.V. at the intersection of State Road 120 and County Road 300 West in Steuben County.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department reports 74-year-old Kenneth R. Steele had been traveling east on 120 driving a 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
68-year-old Guy Griffith of Fremont, Indiana was heading west on 120 in a 2003 Ford Explorer.
As Griffith was turning south on 300 West, Steele’s motorcycle struck the right front corner of the Ford Explorer.
Steele and a passenger, 75-year-old Janice Steele of Orland, were ejected off of the motorcycle.
Kenneth Steele was pronounced dead at the scene by the Steuben County Coroner.
Janice Steele was taken to Cameron Hospital by Steuben County EMS and then flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne by the Samaritan helicopter.
She sustained numerous injuries and at last report was in critical condition.
Griffith was uninjured in the crash.
State Road 120 was closed for about two hours while the crash was being investigated by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
Assisting at the scene were the Indiana State Police, Angola Police Department, Fremont Fire/Rescue, Steuben County EMS and the Steuben County Coroner’s Office.
