LITCHFIELD, MI (WTVB) – An ongoing neighbor dispute apparently led to the shooting of a man early Wednesday morning in Hillsdale County.
The Michigan State Police in Jackson say they were dispatched at about 12:45 a.m. to the 7000 block of Hadley Road in Litchfield.
While traveling to the scene, the troopers contacted the man who phoned in. The man said he thought he had shot his neighbor and needed an ambulance.
Upon arrival, troopers found a 46 year old man from Litchfield with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
Medical aid was provided to the victim by troopers until a Reading Ambulance crew arrived and took over care.
The victim was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson where he is in stable condition.
The original caller, a 70 year old from Litchfield, was later arrested for assault with intent to murder and lodged at the Hillsdale County Jail.
The investigation into the shooting is continuing.
