COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After nearly three decades, the annual rubber duck race to raise money for charity is in the process of changing hands.
The Great Hospice Duck Race is now known as the Coldwater Exchange Club Duck Race.
ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital announced in March that the hospital will partner with the Coldwater Exchange Club this year and help transition the event to be permanently operated by the Exchange Club in future years.
This year, both ProMedica Coldwater Hospice and the Child Advocacy Center through Coldwater Exchange will benefit from the money raised.
Saturday’s event at Waterworks Park will be the first in person gathering since 2019.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 race while the 2021 race had to be held virtually.
Be sure and adopt your duck for Saturday’s race. There will be 24 prizes worth over $14,000 with the top prize being $2,022 in cash that is being donated once again by the Dutcher Funeral Home.
Second prize is a week-long camping adventure donated by Advantage 1 Auto & RV and Auto Brokers.
Third prize is a Family Bronze Golf Membership Package donated by Coldwater Golf Course.
Ducks are only $5 apiece. You can buy them from any Exchange Club member or from numerous local businesses. All proceeds go to Hospice, the proposed new Child Advocacy Center and many other local charitable causes.
