MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – The girls soccer season ended for Coldwater on Wednesday night as they were shut out by top-ranked Marshall 8-0 in the M.H.S.A.A. Division Two district semifinals in Marshall.
Coldwater battled Marshall in a 2-0 loss to the Red Hawks during the regular season but as the final score would indicate, it was all Marshall on Wednesday night.
Marshall scored three goals in the first five minutes and raced out to a 5-0 halftime lead.
They added three more goals in the second half to end the game on the mercy rule.
The Red Hawks improved to 20-0 and will face sixth-ranked Gull Lake in the district finals on Friday night.
Gull Lake advanced on Wednesday with a 9-1 win over Hastings in the other semifinal.
Coldwater finished the season with a record of 11-8.
