BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Statistics provided by the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency on Tuesday show that 500 Branch County residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since the first case was reported in late March.
Another 15 cases were reported on Tuesday and there have been over 100 cases in Branch County in the last three weeks due in part to state mandated testing of agricultural and migrant workers.
Tuesday was also the fourth day since August 26 that the daily number of new COVID-19 cases reached into double digits in Branch County.
Four Branch County residents have passed away after testing positive for the virus.
As for the other counties in the C.H.A.’s jurisdiction, the number of cases in Hillsdale County has flattened since late July as less than 100 cases have been reported. Hillsdale County has had the lowest number of cases with 289 reported so far but the county has had 26 deaths due mainly to the outbreak last spring at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility.
St. Joseph County has had the most cases in the jurisdiction with 618. The county has had 11 COVID-19 related deaths.
