BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – After winning their first district championship since 2014 in dramatic fashion last Saturday, the Union City Chargers will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday afternoon in the M.H.S.A.A. Division Three Baseball Regional semi finals at Bronson.
The 20-8 Chargers will take on the 20-4 Hudson Tigers with the winner moving on to face either Clinton or Jackson Lumen Christi in this Saturdays regional final at Adrian College.
The Tigers won the Lenawee County Athletic Association championship while Union City was 9-5 and tied for second with Jonesville in the Big 8 Conference this season.
Union City advanced to the regional by winning the district title at Bronson thanks a 2-1 nine inning victory over the host Vikings and a come from behind 7-5 win over Homer after the Trojans won the Big 8 Conference regular season championship.
The start of the game Wednesday afternoon has been moved up to 4:15 p.m. in hopes of beating the rain.
Meanwhile, the M.H.S.A.A. Division One Baseball Regional semi final between Battle Creek Lakeview and Ann Arbor Skyline has been postponed until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday night at Lowe Field due to the forecast for showers and thundershowers.
The winner will be back at Lowe Field on Saturday to play either Monroe or Woodhaven for a regional title.
