PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals girls softball team is hoping the train will keep rolling on Saturday at the M.H.S.A.A. Division One Regional Tournament at Portage Northern.
The 24-8 Cardinals will face DeWitt in the second semifinal at 12:00 noon. Mattawan will play Holt in the first semifinal at 10:00 a.m..
The winners will meet for the regional title at 2:00 p.m.. The Portage Northern regional champion will advance to the state quarterfinals at Adrian College on Tuesday to play the winner of the Northville regional.
The Cardinals and the Panthers have both won two straight district championships. Coldwater moved up to Division One for this year’s tournament. They lost in the Division Two regional semi-finals last season to Wayland 3-1.
DeWitt has numerous seniors back from the 2021 squad that managed to get to the State Quarterfinals in Division One.
AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB will provide coverage from Portage Northern starting at about 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
