BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The City of Bronson is looking to demolish a pair of blighted properties and make improvements to its water tank.
The Bronson City Council on Monday night will be asked to approve bids for the demolition of properties at 214 East Chicago and 422 Mill Street.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says the City received a court order from Branch County Circuit Court Judge Bill O’ Grady for the demolition of 214 E. Chicago Street next to the post office. While seeking proposals, Mersman said he included the demolition of the home and out buildings at 422 Mill Street to try and get some economy of scale.
There were two bids submitted with Handy Excavating of Quincy the low bidder at $29,000. Mersman says Handy Excavating was also the low bidder for projects in Quincy and Sturgis recently for home demolitions.
The Council will also be asked on Monday to approve a bid for the water tower interior painting and improvement project.
There were six bids submitted. Mersman says L&T Painting was the low bidder at $93,000 for the project work and $20,000 for a portable pressure water tank.
He adds if they is able to utilize the water tower at the corner of Railroad and Matteson Street, the portable tank will not be needed.
