COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – City of Coldwater taxpayers will see a slight reduction in bills next fiscal year, thanks to the budget passed by the Coldwater City Council this week.
Chief Financial Officer Tom Eldridge says the 2023 operational budget has a $111,000 deficit. Highlights next fiscal year include $350,000 to complete the Four Corners Park renovation project, a loan to the Downtown Development Authority to bring the Children’s Museum of Branch County to the former Taylor’s Stationers building downtown, and $850,000 for the potential purchase of a new fire truck.
Because of a state required Headlee Amendment rollback, the city’s operational millage will be reduced from 11.5827 to 11.5642. The road fund millage used to pay off bonds will drop from 1.2 mills to 1.0 mills, saving homeowners between $10 and $30 per year based on the value of their home.
