LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Branch County’s unemployment rate in May went up four-tenths of a percent from the previous month to four percent according to data released Thursday by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget.
Their report stated that not seasonally adjusted jobless rates went up in 13 Michigan labor market areas between April and May.
Associate Director of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives Wayne Rourke said, “Michigan’s regional labor market jobless rate gains were primarily due to workforce increases across multiple regions. Payroll employment advanced in most metro areas during May.”
