COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There is a big hole in the local music scene.
Long time local musician Jim Stout has passed away at the age of 71 following a series of health issues in recent months.
Stout performed as part of the the Jim Stout Band which was formed in 2006. The band, which included Stout, his wife Laurie and Peter Fair, offered an eclectic mix of Folk, Bluegrass, Classic Country & Classic Rock.
The band was a favorite act at many local live music performances over the years including Coldwater’s “Entertainment Under the Stars”.
They were the first act to perform at Heritage Park in August of 2020 after the shows were moved away from the noise and traffic of downtown Coldwater. Stout was pleased with the change of venue.
Stout wintered in New Mexico and that was where he started to have health problems last winter.
After he got out of University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, Stout and his wife were getting ready to return to Michigan when he began having multiple stroke episodes starting on Easter Sunday.
Enough money was raised in May on a Go Fund Me page to get Stout home to Michigan in an Air Ambulance since he could not fly on his own.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
Very nice man, big loss
Sad to hear this. It was special to have Jim perform at dad‘s memorial. Dad always spoke highly of him.
