ATHENS, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school basketball Thursday, Quincy won their Big 8 conference opener 54-35 over Athens.and improved to 2-1. Nathan Karney led the Orioles with 15 points, five rebounds and five assists while Will Dunn had 14 points.
Quincy also won the J.V. game 75-39.
Union City fell to 1-2 on the season with a 57-51 against Homer. Elijah Harris led Union City with 18 points.

Bronson improves to 4-0 Thursday night with a 63-15 win over New Buffalo. as Alyssa Hagen led the Vikings with 15 points.
In underclassman basketball, Coldwater J.V.’s lost at Parma Western 47-32. Autum Sunderland led Coldwater with 15 points, five rebounds and three steals. Jayda Kelly had 10 rebounds.
Coldwater also lost the freshman game to Parma Western 36-29. Taylor Wilber led Coldwater with 17 points while Maddy Klotz had nine rebounds.
Coming up tonight in a girls/boys basketball doubleheader, Coldwater will host Parma Western. The girls varsity game is schedukle to tip off at 6:00 p.m. Live coverage on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB begins at 5:30 p.m.
In boys only basketball Friday, it’s Bronson at New Buffalo. In girls basketball, it’s Quincy at Athens and Union City hosting Homer.

Every Cardinal had at least one personal best. Already, they have broken 9 of the 13 board records from last year. Six of them were broken on Thursday. Carter Moore broke the 200 IM, 500 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle records. Austin Butler broke the 50 Freestyle and the 1 meter 6 dive record. And the relay team of Moore, Tanner Bowers, Lucas Santure and Austin Butler broke the 400 Freestyle relay.
