COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School wrestling team combined their home opener with their Interstate 8 opener Wednesday and came away with a 48-21 win over Marshall 21. The Cardinals will host the Coldwtwer Classic Saturday.
Bronson picked up a pair of wins Wednesday, beating Casspolis 68-9; and Berrien Springs 68-10 With the two wins, the Vikings improved their dual meet record to 7-2.
—GIRLS GYMNASTICS—
Coldwater 116.825, Adrian 96
The meet was their 6th annual Jillian Crist Memorial meet and the gymnasts collected items to donate to the local food pantry. Claire Sheppard won the vault and floor exercise while Sarah Hughes won the overall and finished first on the uneven bars,
The final tallies for the all-around competition showed the Cardinals claimed three of the top four spots. Sarah Hughes was the all-around winner, finishing her first meet with a personal record of 31.150. Claire Sheppard claimed third place with her total of 29.45. Finishing close behind in fourth was freshman Kelani Phillipp at 29.00. Just behind the pack was senior Tara Davis, who finished in fifth with a personal best at 26.875.
Coldwater travels to Jackson Lumen Christi on Saturday for an Invitational.
—MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL—
The Legg Middle School 8th grade A team lost to Parma Western 74-48 to finish the season 5-6. Spencer Rodesiler led Coldwater with 15 points while Cayrin Thompson added 13 points.
Meanwhile, the 8th Grade B Team ended their season at 4-7 following a 48-32 loss at Parma Western. Coby Wagoner led Coldwater with 14 points.
Both of the Legg Middle School 7th grade teams defeated Parma Western. The A team avenged an earlier loss with a 65-31 victory over the Mounties. Brandon Downs led Coldwater with 16 points while Ethan Crabtree and Aaron May both had 13 points. The A team finishes with a 8-3 record
The B team finished a perfect 11-0 with a 46-18 victory over the Mounties. Nate Tappenden led Coldwater with 10 points.
Bronson’s 8th grade boys basketball team ended their season with a 40-36 win over Mar-Lee. Conner Govey led Bronson with 16 points. The Vikings finished 7-5.
