BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The downward trend for gas prices continues.
Triple-A Michigan says the average cost in the state went down another 19 cents in the past week to $4.44 a gallon.
The average price in Michigan has gone down 65 cents in the past month but it’s $1.16 higher than last year at this time.
Spotters for the web site gasbuddy.com report prices around Branch County were between $4.19 and $4.39 a gallon.
Prices are lower to the south in Steuben County where one station in Angola was selling gas for $4.15.
Patrick De Haan, who is the head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, says in his latest blog on Monday, “Gas prices continue falling coast to coast, with the national average last week declining for the sixth straight week, or 40 days in a row. The national average is now down an astounding 70 cents in that timeframe. I have no reason yet to expect the decline won’t reach seven straight weeks, as gas stations still have plenty of room to decline as oil prices remain under $100 per barrel. However, should the tropics become more active, the decline could eventually reverse.”
