COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council will be asked Monday night to schedule a public hearing on an Industrial Facilities Abatement Application that was submitted by Clemens Food Group.
Clemens is seeking a 12 year abatement on the real property portion and six years for the personal property component.
The overall investment is estimated at over $1.7 million which is the true cash value. Clemens already has one abatement on the books. The project is expected to create 644 jobs over the next two years.
The public hearing would be scheduled for January 9, 2017. Local government approval is then subject to state approval.
The City Council will also be asked to table the sale of two vacant lots in the 100 block of Branch Avenue until the meeting on January 23, 2017. The sites are the former location of a residential structure that was demolished in 2015. An offer has been made to the city to buy the parcels at $5,000 apiece.
