COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The expected heavy snowfall for southwest lower Michigan will now be arriving later than originally expected.
The National Weather Service now has pushed its Winter Weather Advisory back to be in effect from 10 a.m. Thursday until 4 p.m. Friday. The initial advisory was in effect from 3 a.m. Thursday to 2 p.m. Friday for Branch, Calhoun, and Steuben counties .
The weather service still says lake effect snow showers could lead to drifting snow at times, with snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches by late Friday. Snow covered and slippery roads are expected especially from Thursday night into Friday.
Snow could be heavier in St Joseph County. The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the possibility of 5 to 8 inches of snow.
Kalamazoo County is under a Winter Storm Warning with up to 10 inches of snow expected.
