UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – A police pursuit which started in Tekonsha ended in Union City Sunday morning but not before the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says the driver of the vehicle being pursued tried to ram several police cars.
The Sheriff’s Department says deputies tried to stop a vehicle for equipment violations at about 2:40 a.m. The driver did not stop and tried to flee.
A lengthy pursuit took place before the suspect vehicle was intentionally disabled by officers in Union City.
The driver then tried to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended with the assistance of a Deputies K-9.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 30 year old Tekonsha man. He was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on various traffic and drug charges. Deputies say an active meth lab was also found in the vehicle.
The name of the suspect is being withheld pending arraignment.
The Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Michigan State Police and the Albion Department of Public Safe
