ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A second person from rural Fremont, Indiana has died following a two vehicle crash on State Road 120 east of Orland last Friday afternoon.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says they were informed by family members that the driver of the 2012 Volkswagen passenger car, 43 year old Lonnie Bright, succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Monday night at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
The front seat passenger who was pronounced dead at the scene last Friday was identified as 33-year-old Breanna Jeanne Bright.
The two back seat passengers were five-year-old Journey Bright who still remains hospitalized in critical condition at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne and three-month-old Granger Bright who was treated at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital in Angola and was later released.
The Sheriff’s Department said last Friday night that according to their preliminary crash scene investigation, a 2007 Nissan Titan pickup truck driven by 50 year old Donald Gene Squires of Howe, Indiana was traveling west on 120 when the vehicle went left of the center line and into the path of the eastbound Volkswagen passenger car.
They say the two vehicles appeared to have then collided nearly head-on. The Sheriff’s Department said on Wednesday that the crash remains under investigation but that neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a factor in the crash at this time.
