BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber told the Bronson City Council on Monday he was pleased with the results from last week’s millage questions in the Bronson Area Fire Association.
Gilead Township voters approved the establishment of an annual special assessment to purchase fire protection equipment and for fire operations. The special assessments are not to exceed 1.25 mils and would raise over $37,000.
Matteson and Noble Township voters approved the renewal of millages for five years that would be used for fire protection and equipment.
The renewal of eight-tenths of a mil in Matteson Township will raise over $47,000 in the first year the millage is levied.
A half mill would be levied for five years in Noble Township with $11,300 being raised in the first year the millage is levied.
Meanwhile, Wilber also said their “safety net” ambulance was expected to arrive around the first of September.
The Bronson Area Fire Association decided recently to use the safety net ambulance on a six month trial basis.
The auxiliary ambulance would be stationed at the Bronson fire station in case a LifeCare Ambulance is not available in a timely fashion.
Due to a lack of staffing, LifeCare has not been able to meet its response time standards.
The plan would be to dispatch the extra ambulance with fire department personnel if a normal ambulance isn’t available
