DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Gas prices in Michigan are up 2 cents compared to last week. Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.06 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 10 cents less than this time last month and about 71 cents less than this time last year.
Motorists are paying an average of $31 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $13 from when prices were their highest last July.
AAA reports that lower demand has helped pump prices to decline this week, while total domestic gasoline stocks fell by 400,000 bbl to 231.5 million bbl.
“The slight uptick in gas demand has likely led to the small increase in Michigan gas prices,” said AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland said in a statement. “If demand decreases as stocks tighten, motorists could see prices hold steady through the week.”
Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price decreased slightly. Metro Detroit’s current average is $2.14 per gallon, 1 cent less than last week’s average and 65 cents less than this time last year.
- Most expensive gas price averages: Marquette ($2.25), Metro Detroit ($2.14), Ann Arbor ($2.07)
- Least expensive gas price averages: Grand Rapids ($1.97), Traverse City ($1.97), Jackson ($1.98)
In Kalamazoo County, drivers are paying an average of $1.94 per gallon, according to the data.
