QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Village of Quincy will have its new police chief in place next Monday, August 22.
Village Manager Brittany Butler says in her report to the Quincy Village Council for Tuesday’s meeting that Mike Kolassa has accepted the position after his hiring was approved by the Village Council last month.
Kolassa was one of two candidates for the position. Branch County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Doug Pope was the other candidate before he withdrew his name from consideration.
Kolassa previously served as a lieutenant with the Albion Public Safety Department.
Kolassa succeeds Jeremy Burch who stepped down in June after serving as the Quincy Police Chief for five years.
