COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners will soon start the process of putting together Branch County’s budget for 2023.
With that in mind, Deputy Treasurer Kalie Beemer spoke to Commissioners on Tuesday about what she feels is a stonewalled issue concerning job duties and how employees have been asking for revamping and re-classifications for their wages.
Beemer was upset about the amount of money she had to pay for the benefits of the county’s health insurance plan.
Commission Chair Tim Stoll said while progress has been made, more work has to be done.
County Administrator Bud Norman was asked by Commissioner Tom Matthew to follow up on the concerns raised by Beemer.
Commissioners decided in April that the nearly $451,000 the county got from state marijuana taxes should be spent first on getting rid of the much maligned Tier Two pay scale for employees with the remaining funds going to the Sheriff’s Department for additional road patrol deputies.
Norman said at the time the State Department of Treasury has indicated yearly distributions will likely be less in the future.

Now that the courthouse yard has been reasonably cleaned up, perhaps a new picture should be taken to put on this ad for Coldwater? This one is outdated!
Ya think?
