COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Near record warmth is going to give way to more seasonal temperatures for this time of year over the weekend.
Coldwater set a record high for November 18th on Friday when the temperature hit 71 at 1:54pm at the Branch County Memorial Airport. That broke the old record for the date of 69 degrees which was set back in 1904.
Coldwater had a near miss on Thursday as the high was 67 degrees. The web site weather.com says the record high for November 17th in Coldwater is 70 degrees.
By the way, the average high in Coldwater for November 17th and 18th is 45 degrees.
The National Weather Service says the big change will start Friday night when a strong cold front comes through the area.
Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon and early this evening.
Wind gusts of 50 miles an hour or greater will be the main threat, but there’s a marginal risk of isolated tornadoes if the storms develop.
Scattered rain and snow showers are expected Saturday with windy conditions and temperatures almost 30 degrees colder than Friday.
Mainly lake effect snow showers are expected Saturday night.
