COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Near record warmth is going to give way to more seasonal temperatures for this time of year over the weekend.
The National Weather Service says the big change will start Friday night when a strong cold front comes through the area.
Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon and early this evening.
Wind gusts of 50 miles an hour or greater will be the main threat, but there’s a marginal risk of isolated tornadoes if the storms develop.
Scattered rain and snow showers are expected Saturday with windy conditions and temperatures almost 30 degrees colder than Friday.
Mainly lake effect snow showers are expected Saturday night.
It was a balmy Thursday in Coldwater as the high as recorded at the Branch County Memorial Airport was 67 degrees but it was not a record high. The web site www.weather.com says the record high is 70 degrees. The record high for Friday is 69 degrees set back in 1904.
The average high in Coldwater for November 17 and 18 is 45 degrees.
