LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) — State officials have announced traffic crash numbers as of Tuesday
Twenty six people died on Michigan roads over the last week. That’s a total of 730 this year from traffic crashes, and 58 more fatalities compared to this time last year, despite this year’s stay-home order that kept many people off the roads, after the COVID-19 pandemic hit Michigan.
Another 143 more people were seriously injured, a statewide total of 3,597 to date, and 348 fewer serious traffic crash injuries compared to last year.
These statistics are compiled by the Michigan State Police and released by the Michigan Department of Transportation on a weekly basis to raise traffic-safety awareness.
