COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council will be asked on Monday night to approve a $22,500 bid for a new “Welcome to Coldwater” sign on the west side of the city.
The ground sign and decorative lamp posts will be on U.S. 12 adjacent to Oak Grove Cemetery.
The sign that previously existed at this location was destroyed by an automobile accident on December 30, 2020.
City Manager Keith Baker said in a letter to the Council for Monday’s meeting that to maintain consistency with the City’s other entrance signs, the staff sought a bid from the company that supplied the original signs. That company is Johnson Sign Company in Jackson.
Baker said two other bids were sought and received, but either the designs of the lamp posts or sign were not consistent with the existing design or the bids did not include installation.
Johnson’s bid also includes repairs to the foundations that were damaged as a result of the accident.
