COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One of four area men who were arrested in Princeton, Kentucky last December for their alleged parts in trying to loot from tornado-damaged homes and vehicles was arraigned on unrelated Branch County charges this past Wednesday in District Court.
25-year-old Sevon Gowen of Sturgis is facing charges of receiving and concealing stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Gowen and another suspect were stopped on U.S. 12 by the Michigan State Police for several vehicle violations on October 28, 2021.
According to Branch County court records, metallic knuckles were in plain site on the passenger side and numerous TV’s were seen in the back seat.
A search warrant was later executed on the vehicle which led to the discovery of numerous suspected stolen items. Those items included tools, televisions and Chromebooks.
A unregistered pistol was also found in the dash of the vehicle.
Bond was set at $20,000. A probable cause hearing was scheduled for September 20 with a preliminary exam scheduled for September 27.
