COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioners are expected to decide during their work session Thursday if they want to bring forward to next week’s meeting a proposal on the construction of a new animal control facility that would be built next to the Branch County Jai.
County Administrator Bud Norman ran down a number of reductions during the Commissioners last meeting that would bring a bid for the project down to $438,000.
The initial bid was over $618,000 which was greater than the insurance amount following the fire which damaged the old animal shelter near Quincy in May 2015.
Branch County officials have been talking with their counterparts in Hillsdale County about a partnership to support the construction of the shelter.
If work on the building starts this month, it is scheduled to be finished in April 2017.
