COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There has been a report of some Halloween candy being tampered with in the City of Coldwater.
A Coldwater woman has posted pictures on her Facebook page of candy passed out to her two children which had thumb tacks and nails placed inside. Heather Kay Williams says her sister was eating a piece of her two year old daughters’ candy last night and bit into a thumb tack.
In addition, a nail was found in a Snickers candy bar and tacks were found in two boxes of Milk Duds.
Coldwater Police Deputy Director Joe Scheid says that was the only report of tampered candy they’ve received.
Williams says her children were trick or treating between 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in an area west of North Clay Street and south of Parkhurst Park. She adds all of her childern’s candy was thrown out after the items were found.
Despite some social media chatter, officials in Bronson, Union City, and Quincy say there were no reports of tampered candy in their communities.
