COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bethel Township man was ordered to serve 17 months to five years in the Michigan Department of Corrections Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he admitted his guilt to a charge of third degree attempted criminal sexual conduct.
In exchange for the guilty plea entered by 44-year-old David Green, four counts of third degree CSC were dismissed by prosecutors.
Green admitted last month that sexual acts with a young teenage girl took place “ten or twelve times” in his home during 2007 and 2008.
He said during Monday’s sentencing hearing that he was ashamed about what happened. But Judge Bill O’Grady scolded him for some of the answers he was giving. The judge said he was concerned Green did not understand what the crime was about.
The maximum sentence Green could get was five years. No other charges involving the alleged victim would be filed against Green as part of the plea agreement and he would have to register as a sex offender.
