COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Police Department is looking for a man who they think struck two veteran officers as well as a patrol vehicle before driving off early Tuesday afternoon.
According to a press release on the incident, the department responded to a medical call at 710 East Chicago just after 12 noon.
Officers saw a black 2012 Chevrolet Impala with Michigan license plate AFW 102.
They tried to get a man, who they think was the owner of the car, to come out after seeing suspected contraband in the passenger compartment. But the driver backed up and the officers were struck by one of the car doors. The officers names were not released pending the filing of paperwork with the Branch County Prosecutors office.
The patrol unit was hit in the bumper and sustained minor damage according to Director Mark Bartell.
The suspect fled in an unknown direction of travel. The registered owner is listed as Brandon David Eichler, who is about 35 years old and is thought to be from the Bronson area.
He is described as being a white male who is six-foot-one and weighs 175 pounds. Eichler has brown hair and brown eyes is a believed to be the driver of the suspect vehicle. If anyone has information about his whereabouts, call Coldwater Police at (517) 278-4525.
