COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – No action was taken by Branch County Commissioners Tuesday on the lone proposal submitted for a new Animal Control Building. The facility would be built next to the Branch County Jai.
County Administrator Bud Norman ran down a number of reductions that would bring the bid down to $438,000. Norman said they were not prepared Tuesday to ask Commissioners to take action at that time.
The initial bid was over $618,000 which was greater than the insurance amount following the fire which damaged the old animal shelter near Quincy in May 2015.
Norman said the revised plans call for the facility to be reduced by 1,100 square feet and that Hillsdale County is interested in a partnership.
If work on the building starts next month, it is scheduled to be finished in April 2017.
