ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – The recently renovated Brokaw Theater in downtown Angola sustained between $25,000 and $50,000 worth of damage over the weekend when a man drove a car into the building in an attempt to break up a fight involving his friend.
Angola Police say the incident happened at about 3:40 a.m. Saturday morning when 29-year-old Natanael Rovira drove his vehicle onto the sidewalk and through the front door because his friend was getting beaten up.
Those involved in the fight ran from the scene. If you have any information about the fight, you are being asked to call Angola Police at (260) 665-2121.
The theater is still open and there are no safety issues but a door was taken out. Newly installed tile and glass was also shattered.
The Brokaw re-opened last February after it was closed for a year and a half when its new owners had a massive renovation done to the theater which first opened in 1932.
