MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – In cross country, Coldwater’s boys won the Interstate 8 Conference championship thanks to their first place finish on Saturday at the conference meet hosted by Marshall. The Cardinals went 1-2 and took five of the first 11 positions. Coldwater had 25 points followed by Harper Creek with 43 and Parma Western with 78.
Shuaib Aljabaly won in a time of 15:32. Zack Murphy was 13 seconds back in second place. Jordan Parkinson was fourth, Ben Fagen seventh and Jacob Fair was 11th. All five Cardinals earned All-Conference honors.
The Coldwater girls finished fifth. Jackson Lumen Christi won the girls meet with 61 points followed by Marshall with 68 points and Parma Western with 75. Coldwater had two in the top ten as they earned All-Conference honors. Kathy Potter was fifth and Elka Machan was sixth.
Quincy’s girls won the Little Guys Invitational at Gobles on Saturday while the Quincy finished third. Comstock won the boys meet with 78 points followed by Parchment with 85 and Quincy with 101. Quincy’s Nathan Nohr won the race in a time of 17:33.19. Ian Trail was 16th while Brock Martin was 17th and Joshua Pepper was 28th.
The Quincy girls took four of the top 15 spots to win the team title. Gabby Porter was second as Cora Hamilton of Athens won the race. Madelyn Allman was 12th, Makenzie Blatter was 13th and Madde Horn was 15th.

Bronson won the BCS division league tournament and league on Saturday as they defeated Cassopolis 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-7) and Mendon in the finals 3-1 (25-23, 24-26, 25-18, 25-20)

Coldwater won their Lady Cardinal Volleyball Invite on Saturday and ended the day undefeated. In pool play they defeated Three Rivers 25-22, 25-18, Quincy 25-21, 25-13, and Hillsdale 25-12, 25-21. The Cardinals were seeded first and defeated Hillsdale again 25-15, 25-17.
Coldwater defeated Athens in the semi-finals 25-7, 25-23. They then defeated #2 seed Tecumseh in the finals 2-1 (23-25, 25-16, 15-8).
