COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As Hurricane Ian bears down on Florida’s Gulf Coast, help is on the way from Coldwater.
The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities is sending four linemen along with two bucket trucks and a digger to Orlando, Florida to assist with expected electric infrastructure damage that will likely be caused by Ian.
The utility is lending a hand as part of a mutual aid agreement.
As of Wednesday morning, Ian was growing more powerful and more dangerous.
The National Hurricane Center reports that Ian had become a Category 4 hurricane at 5 a.m. Eastern Time.
The extremely dangerous storm is packing sustained winds of 140 miles an hour as it churns about 75 miles southwest of Naples, Florida.
