COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school volleyball, Coldwater lost their first conference match of the season on Wednesday night to the Harper Creek Beavers 3-0 (15-25, 15-25, 21-25). The Beavers are ranked sixth in the state in Class B this week by the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association.
Jamie Wellet & Malorie Rzepka led Coldwater in kills with 6 each. Rzepka also had 12 digs and Wellet led in assists with 10. Jasmine Wellet led in block kills with 5, led in digs with 15, and had 4 kills. Drue Mullin had 11 digs, while Tyler Scheid had 3 blocks and 3 kills.
Coldwater’s record is now 28-6-6 and they are 5-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference.
Coldwater won both of the underclassman matches by 2-0 scores.
The J.V. team won 25-11, 25-16. Carlee Crabtree had eight kills, Jordan Clemens had five aces and three digs, Hailey Steel had four digs, Emilee Smoker had six assists and five digs while Anna Tappenden had four assists, six kills and four digs.
Coldwater won the freshman match 25-11, 25-21 as their record improved to 18-11-6. Bailey Burkhardt had four blocks, three kills and two aces while Jasmine Coppess had five kills.
Bronson is ranked second once again this week by the M.I.V.C.A. and they defeated Olivet Wednesday night 3-0 by the scores of 25-23, 25-8, 25-21.
