UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school volleyball Tuesday, Union City defeated Homer 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-19, 25-16) on Senior Night. It was also the Chargers Dig Pink Night as money was raised for the fight against cancer. The win improved the Lady Chargers’ conference record to 4-2, with their overall record at 14-16-2

—BOYS SOCCER DISTRICTS—
Coldwater will play Marshall in the semifinals of the Division Two Districts at Charlotte at 5:30pm on Thursday night after the Red Hawks defeated Eaton Rapids 3-0 on Tuesday. Sturgis will play Charlotte in the other Thursday night semifinal. The Trojans advanced Tuesday night with a 3-1 win over Battle Creek Central while Charlotte defeated Harper Creek 3-0.
—CROSS COUNTRY—
Concord’s boys and Quincy’s girls wrapped up Big 8 Conference championships on Tuesday as they finished first in the final conference jamboree of the season which was hosted by Springport.The boys meet mirrored the final conference standings with Concord finishing first followed by Jonesville, Homer and Quincy. Union City was seventh.
Nathan Nohr was the top finisher for Quincy as he was third. Ian Trail finished 16th. Chase Hurley was the top finisher for Union City as he was 15th.
Five Quincy runners finished in the top 20 as the Orioles clinched the girls title. Concord was second while Reading was third in both the jamboree and the final season standings. Union City was seventh.
Quincy’s Gabby Porter was fourth while Harmony Harpster was eighth, Haley Bean was 13th, MaKenzie Blatter was 16th and Madelyn Allman was 18th. Marika Endo was the top finisher for Union City as she was 20th. Marionna Bigelow was 32nd.

The Coldwater 8th grade A volleyball team defeated Harper Creek 2-1 (22-25, 25-15 15-10). Madison Beckhusen had 8 points 3 aces, 5 kills, 3 digs and 2 assists. AnnaKate Dwyer was strong in the back row with 7 points 4 aces, 6 digs and 2 kills. Mia Rzepka, Victoria Gonzalez and Meg Smith each with 4 points. Laynee Paarlberg with 6 assists; Kaia Donay 4 kills; Abby Herman 3 kills; Alyssa Bach 2 kills and Jenna Julien one block.
The Coldwater 8th grade B volleyball team swept Harper Creek 2-0 (25-19, 25-14). Strong at the service line was Allysa Stevens with 11 points, 5 aces; Lissbet Ramos with 7 points, 3 aces; and Lacy Janusz with 5 points, 3 aces. The Cardinals last season game is on Thursday against Western Parma.
The Coldwater 7th grade A volleyball team improved to 17-1-1 overall as they defeated Harper Creek 2-0 (25-15 25-19)

Coldwater’s 7th grade B volleyball team beat Harper Creek 2-1 (25-19, 22-25, 15-10). Their season record is now 7-8-3 with the last game of the season coming up on Thursday. Allie Welch led the team with 11 points serving. Other leading servers were Camilla Boston (4), Katie McCurley(4). Jadazay Ledbetter, Nora Schall, and Hannah Robison all added 3 points each.
