COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Board of Directors approved a negotiated agreement Wednesday night with the Michigan Electric Transmission Company covering third party attachments.
The CBPU sold its 138 kilovolt transmission line between the Michigan Avenue and Garfield Avenue substations in December of 2016 to METC.
Electrical Engineer Andrew Cameron told the Board that METC has since approached CBPU about acting as its agent to administer third party telecommunication attachment contracts.
The terms call for the CBPU to administer and enforce the current contracts which were approved by both CBPU and the third party attachers prior to the sale of the transmission line.
In return, CBPU will retain all fees paid by the third party according to the terms of their contract.
The agreement would be for 20 years with successive 5-year renewals until terminated by either party.
