MATTAWAN, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School varsity boys soccer team wrapped up their regular season Saturday, falling to Division One Mattawan 2-1.
Austin Atkins got the lone goal for the Cardinals with 3:00 to play in the game, assisted by Ezaldeen Ahmed. Franky Ramos had four saves in goal, as each team had nine shots.
Coldwater finished the regular season at 8-7-3 overall. They will host Vicksburg in a district quarterfinal match-up this Friday at 6:00 p.m. The winner of that game will face Division Two third ranked St. Joseph in the district semifinals.
The Coldwater junior varsity team closed out its season with a 1-1 tie at Mattawan Saturday. Moshen Umari had the lone goal for the Cardinals, while Hunter Barnett had five saves in goal.
The JV team finished with a record of 11-3-2.
