COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – About 30 members of the public were on hand Tuesday night at Legg Middle School as Coldwater Community School officials got input regarding the state of district facilities and potential improvements.
Josh Szymanski from the Grand Rapids firm of Owen-Ames-Kimball said nothing has been decided yet as they wanted to hear from community members.
School officials said the meeting would serve as a catalyst for shaping a long term facilities plan for the district.
It was estimated after a study in June of the district buildings that the district was looking at spending at least $7.8 million and maybe as much as $42 million to fix things up.
The study found that Lakeland Elementary was in the worst shape while the rest of the buildings needed moderate renovations.
District officials pointed out in the past that there has been an increased need to use money from the general fund to help pay for infrastructure maintenance and repairs in the districts aging buildings.
