QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A five year contract between the Village of Quincy and the Quincy Police Department’s new K-9 handler is scheduled to come before the Quincy Village Council on Tuesday night.
The contract calls for Randi Lemaster to serve as the K-9 handler starting on January 1, 2023.
She would take over for Erin Hamilton-Crites who recently left the Quincy Police Department.
The Village Council approved reinstating a police canine unit about two years ago.
The contract calls for the handler to care for the police dog and to train it.
In the event that the handler wants to keep the canine after termination or resignation, the handler will pay the Village of Quincy a prorated price for the canine depending on the handler’s years of service.
