THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – A 54-year-old woman from Mendon who has not had a drivers license since 2009 picked the wrong person to get into an accident with on Wednesday night.
Michigan State Police says one of their troopers was driving through the parking lot of the Wendy’s Restaurant in Three Rivers when the woman’s vehicle failed to yield the right of way and struck the troopers patrol car.
The suspect driver claimed she did not see the patrol car. There were no reported injuries.
Troopers later found out her drivers license had been expired for seven years and she has been denied and revoked by the Secretary of State since 2006. The driver was also believed to have been driving under the influence of multiple prescribed pain medications.
The woman was arrested for Felony Operating While under the Influence 5th offense and Driving While License Suspended / Denied / Revoked 2nd offense.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene. The suspect was lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail pending future court dates.
