COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls volleyball, Coldwater defeated Jackson Northwest 3-0 Wednesday night (25-21, 25-12, 25-16) during their “Win the Battle” to fight cancer event. The Cardinals are now 27-5-6 overall and 4-0 in the Interstate 8.
Malorie Rzepka and Jamie Wellet led the team with 9 kills each. Wellet also led the team in assists with 15 and led in blocks with 4 while Rzepka had 3 blocks. Drue Mullin led in digs with 13 and led from the service line dishing out 5 aces. Jasmine Wellet had 5 kills and 6 digs. Sam Rodesiler had 7 digs and 2 aces.
The Cardinals play next Wednesday at Lumen Christi. However, Monday they are hosting another fundraiser for their “win the fight” against cancer event as the Coldwater Alumni will face the Bronson Alumni at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds go directly to both teams cancer organization that they are raising funds for. The cost to get in is $5 for adults and $2 for students. Hungry Howies has also donated pizzas that will be being “served” for only $1.
Coldwater won both of the underclassman matches over Jackson Northwest.
The Coldwater J.V. squad won 25-14, 25-17. Carlee Crabtree had five kills and six aces, Jordan Clemens had seven kills and four aces, Emilee Smoker had eight assists and three kills and Tisha DeNio had three digs. The Coldwater J.V.’s are now 26-7-3
The Coldwater Freshmen won 25-23, 25-15 as their record improved to 16-9-6. Taylor Wilber had six aces, five assists and two kills, Bailey Burkhardt had four kills and three blocks and Jasmine Coppess had five digs and two assists.

Jayda Kelly won the 100 Butterfly and the 100 Breaststroke. Kory Ulrich won the 200 IM and took second in the 500 Freestyle. Kinzie Groves finished first in the 200 Freestyle and finished second in the 100 Backstroke. Three team records were broken. Ulrich broke the record in the 200 IM and 500 Freestyle and Kelly broke the record in the 100 Butterfly.
The Lady Cards swim again at the Browne Aquatic Center next Thursday at 6pm on Senior Night against Marshall.
