HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) -The identity of a man who was killed in a Hillsdale County house fire last Saturday morning has been released.
The fatal victim has been identified as 60-year-old Haskell Lee Nichols Senior.
His home in the 2100 block of North Adams Road was fully engulfed in flames when deputies and firefighters arrived after the fire was reported by a family member.
Human remains were found inside the residence after the fire was put out and a positive identification had to be made by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.
It was determined by investigators that Nichols was a medical marijuana card holder and had medical marijuana at the residence.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department says a large number of marijuana plants were seized from the home at the request of family members.
