COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One of the two suspects who Branch County authorities say were involved in a series of crimes during the first week of January of 2022 was sentenced on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
36-year-old Jason Work was ordered to serve between 10 to 20 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections after he entered no contest pleas to third degree fleeing and eluding and to first degree home invasion.
Work got the 10 to 20 year sentence in the home invasion case and a concurrent sentence of 23 months to five years on the fleeing and eluding count.
The rest of the charges were dismissed in exchange for the pleas and Work was given credit for 289 days already served in the Branch County Jail.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old co-defendant Lilyan Blankenship is scheduled to be sentenced next Monday after she entered guilty pleas to charges of second degree retail fraud and assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. The rest of the charges are being dropped in exchange for her pleas.
